Wainscoting

Wainscoting is an antique form of wall decoration, thought originally to be used to help insulate a room from cold stone walls.  Wainscoting is generally a wood or panel material placed on the lower portion of a wall below the chair rail or decorative trim piece.  Today wainscoting can be custom installed with traditional tongue and groove boards such as pine or cedar, stained and finished.  Manufactured wainscoting panels also come in a large variety of colors and styles.  Modern materials such as PVC beadboard can be an excellent choice for moisture prone areas such as bathrooms, because the PVC will not rot, peel, blister or need refinishing.  An occasional cleaning with a mild cleanser is all that is needed to present a beautiful finish for years to come.  Although wainscoting is relatively easy to install, there are several considerations to have the installation looking professional.  Contact us today for wainscoting or any of your remodeling questions or needs.
