Sprinkler Systems

As it has been suggested for some time; effective January 1, 2011, the International Residential Code (IRC) is mandating that all newly constructed homes have a fire sprinkler system.  The National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) estimates that combining a smoke alarm and sprinkler system will reduce the chance of dying in a fire by 82%.  The cost is estimated at $0.50 to $2.50 per square foot for new construction.  For more information about this new mandate, please review the following websites: National Fire Protection Agency, U.S. Fire Administration, or the National Fire Sprinkler Association.
