Energy Tax Credit for 2011

The previous 2009-2010 energy tax credit of 30% up to $1500 for energy saving home improvments ended December 31, 2010. A new energy tax credit for 2011 has been put in place for your "principle residence".  Any window/door or skylight, new or replacement, with the "Energy Star" label qualifies. The previous .30/.30 performance rating is not required. The tax credit allows 10% of material cost with a maximum of $200 for windows/skylights and $500 for doors. Biomass stoves, HVAC, insulation, roofing, and water heaters are also included.  This is a tax credit you would claim on you 2011 taxes, not a rebate or discount.
